In chapter 18 it says
David reviewed his troops and appointed commanders of hundreds and thousands over them.
Now it says he reviewed his troops which means he wasn't lazy in setting up his army, just going off what he remembered, he checked and made sure he was correct. Well you could say well he is going into battle he has to that was nothing great. But I make excuses for myself and try to say well I didn't check because .... fill in the blank but it is laziness. It is just as Important to check my chores to obey my parents.

The young man that saw Absalom hanging in a tree was extremely wise by obeying Davids command not to kill Absalom even for the reward Joab offered him. That is wisdom I hope to gain.
