Forgetfulness

Hear this word, you cows of Bashan on Mount Samaria, you women who oppress the poor and crush the needy and say to your husbands,"Bring us some drinks!"
The Sovereign LORD has sworn by his holiness:"The time will surely come when you will be taken away with hooks, the last of you with fishhooks.
You will each go straight out through breaks in the wall, and you will be cast out toward Harmon," declares the LORD.
"Go to Bethel and sin; go to Gilgal and sin yet more. Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years.
Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings—boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do,"declares the Sovereign LORD.
"I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me,"declares the LORD.
"I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain; another had none and dried up.
People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD. Amos 4:1-8

So the people of Israel forgot God and despite the sufferings that God sent they would not turn back toward him! So he is saying go to the sinful nations you will fit right in, but stay out of my holy city, for they were acting like the Pharisees that crucified Jesus. Forgetfulness is deadly and it goes along with laziness. Laziness is not wanting to do something so you don't do something that needs to be done, and forgetfulness is not caring about what you forget. Would you forget something that you really want to do? Or would you not do something that you really want to do because you are lazy? No! You forget because you don't want to do something. So God sends hard times to the Israelites. It is almost like God takes it easy on people who don't trust in him. If you think about it you may think that. But, there are a few things that let us know that He is not easier on none believers. First of all The tribulation will come and it will be very hard to go through. And God expects more from his people. We need to live our lives differently.
