Promises

He does not take his eyes off the righteous; he enthrones them with kings and exalts them forever. Job 36:7

There are many promises that God gives to the righteous. In fact everything God says will happen is a promise because everything God says is true.
Actually people don't know how to promise. We should not have that word promise, it means that you don't trust the person that you are asking to make a promise. It also means that the person that you are asking to make a promise often lies. Someone saying something is making a promise that means that they wont do what you don't want them to do etc.
God uses the word promise to assure man because we have little faith in God and man. That says allot about our culture today, lying, stealing etc.
There are many promises God makes us.

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry.
Psalm 34:15

Promise: an express assurance on which expectation is to be based

That is how God uses it because men cant trust each other.
