Prayer

I was talking to Josh last night about prayer. He said that he didn't know what to say whenever he prayed.
Well here is what I told him and this is what I think about prayer:
We ask, we tell, we listen, and we give thanks with respect.
You know how to ask God for things right?
Josh: Yes but is that all we do?
Me: No, we also need to tell God things that happen to us, we don't always tell him things so that he will give to us, we need to have a conversation with God...
Josh: But God already knows everything so why?
Me: What if you scored a goal in soccer, and Dad told you that it was good, you already know that it was good, but you like to have Dad tell you that. It is the same with God. We can tell him how great he is and what happened to us or whatever. we talk to God.
God is always there to listen to us, he is always there to comfort us and we can always talk to him.
We also need to listen for God.
We just sit and listen and think about God and about the bible, then God will start to give you understanding and tell you things you didn't know before.
Prayer isn't just talking and listening, it is talking and hearing.
