School went well today! I was looking at all the things on my birthday list and I don't think there is one thing under twenty dollars! So I am trying to think of cheaper things I would like to have... Mom made black bean burgers! They were ok... but she has made some pretty delicious vegan food, like vegan enchiladas! I think I like those more than the regular ones! I have been thinking a lot about all the different versions of the Bible... The NIV the NKJ the ESV and all those others. They have different words in them but they are supposed to mean about the same thing. Do they? The NIV interprets sentence by sentence while the ESV does word for word leaving the interpretation to the reader. Do some translations mean different things then others? Psalm 127:5 (New International Version) Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. Psalm 127:5 (English Standard Version) Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. Those are very different statements... the NIV says quiver is full of them, ESV says fills his quiver. There is a lot more responsibility involved in the ESV version of that verse. Anyway, I'm not sure I like all the different versions of it.
