I don't know...

If I should go to the TKD tournament this weekend. I have talked to Mom about it and she said, to pray about it. I don't think she wants me to go. She said that Dad says he doesn't care. There is some benefit in comparing myself to others and seeing how well I can do, but mom doesn't want me to get hurt. What Mom wants is very important to me so I have a bunch of questions to ask the people who run the tourney.
Is it TKD or MMA.
What kicks are allowed and which are not.
Blocking with legs?
How I will be grouped.
ETC...

Mom said Ethan can take me to FSTA (Fort Smith TaeKwonDo Academy) to ask about the tourney.
I am praying and training. It is this Saturday.
Maybe I'll just go watch...

Hey big guy, Misty noticed your blog about the tournie and mentioned it. I have done a few and would be happy to share my experiences. I wouldn't worry about injury, other than a n accidental bloody nose, I haven't been really hurt. Most injuries are twisted ankles. The general guidelines for tournies are similar regardless of style. I would be happy to give you some pointers if you want to persue this. Also, Justice, Hope, and I are thinking about doing some open style tournaments in the fall. Let us know is you might be interested in hooking up at one. All contact is usually very light, tons of pads are worn, and it is very controlled. There is usually two catagories to compete in- forms and sparring. You would be grouped with kids your age and according to belt rank too. Just hollar if I can help in some way. And all of this is if mom & God say OK. By the way, I can give you some of my insight ethically speaking as far as the value of a tournie if you want. Take Care! George OUT!
