The most important thing about the day of the Lord is clear: it comes suddenly.
God leaves it to his Christians to prepare for that day so that we can respond to Him.
In scripture there are several references for the day of the Lord.

Amos predicted that the day of the Lord would be sorrowful and that there would be much wailing, but the people of his day thought it would come with dancing and singing.
